26. Line Thickness

Croquis Posted on August 23, 2014 23:02

I was experimenting with line thickness today. It’s so hard to vary it on the Wacom pen, when there’s only 60 sec to work with.

25. Croquis

I am at it again. I am sure with determination, I will get better at drawing humans. It is getting easier to do. Somehow today’s work seemed less rushed and I had time for a bit more detail than yesterday.

24. Croquis and Photography

Croquis Posted on August 21, 2014 12:51

Another day going crazy with drawing human figures. 60 poses in all.

I have also been out with my camera, trying to get to know it well enough, to get the exposure settings somewhat ok. I ‘think’ I got it today. A few turned out ok. Here’s a few of them.

23. Croquis

Croquis Posted on August 20, 2014 10:23

I found a cool website. A webpage where I can choose total amount of sketches + sketch time. The page will switch random pictures of people to draw. So here goes: 53 sketches – each took 1 min.
The wepage is: www.quickposes.com

My biggest challenge with the sketches today was, that I constantly made them too big, so I ran out of drawing space, when I reached the legs. It was hard to draw with my wacom tablet. I made the lines very thick on purpose in the beginning, to try to not focus on details and then I made the lines thinner as work progressed.

In many of the sketches I like the flow and energy. I like that I can get a fluid body somewhat proportioned right, without having to add too many guide lines. And I like that in a few of these, I found time to feel the structure as a whole, the flow of the form.

22. The Wooden Monkey

Drawing Posted on August 18, 2014 09:41

My mother in law has this cute, wooden, monkey, designer toy thing. I started out drawing the non-space and then filled in more and more details.

21. Summer Holiday is Over

Photo Posted on August 14, 2014 09:48

I met a determined Mentor in photography from Ireland. So I might be spending a bit more time learning about photography for a while. I need to learn of aperature and shutter speed and ISO numbers and what not, to learn to use my camera right.

First lesson was to take pictures with the “TV” setting on my camera, meaning I can only adjust shutter speed. Here are a few of the results from that exercise from my walk yesterday.
Two faeries were dancing (and kissing?) in a meadow. Beautiful and wild they were.
The cutest, little, curious, foal. He was shy and struggling to reach the grass to eat. His legs were too long and his neck too short – poor little giraffe.
The ferocious guard dog at the local riding school. He never knew I was there. Zzz.

20. Jumping Girl

Sketch Posted on July 18, 2014 22:31

It has been a long nice Summer day. I didn´t think I would get the time to draw today, but now after 10 pm, just before it turns dark, the Summer evening is calm, warm and light, and I made one drawing after all. I ended up really liking it. The photograph is horrible but considering the lighting conditions here in the open it will have to do. So today’s drawing: Jumping Girl

19. Action Figure Drawing

Sketch Posted on July 17, 2014 21:18

The limited time challenges always turns out to be great fun to do. This time I was forcing myself not to spend more than 5 mins on each sketch. I ended up doing 5 different poses today. Drawing humans in weird poses is fun, but gee it’s hard to get right with perspective and shortening of limbs, which are supposed to stick out of the paper. As always the hands are the hardest (and the feet). Today I wanted to focus a bit on facial expressions too.

18. Little Troll

Sketch Posted on July 16, 2014 21:45

As I was practicing poses with yet another figure drawing I decided to turn this one into a little troll of some sort.

17. Hands Again

Sketch Posted on July 15, 2014 23:18

Summer holiday started and as usual we went camping. Today my kid and his friend went fishing at the beach. As they were fishing I brought my drawing pad and in between watching them and the ocean, I was drawing whatever was closest. I ended up with hands on the paper.
